The Manufacturers and Chemical Industry Council of North Carolina sponsors a number of educational workshops and seminars through the year designed to help environmental professionals understand North Carolina's environmental laws and regulations and improve compliance. Complying with North Carolina Water Quality Regulations

Direct dischargers of wastewater and stormwater will learn the requirements under North Carolina’s water quality regulations for individual and general water permits and how to stay in compliance with those requirements. Regulators from the North Carolina Division of Water Quality (DWQ) will teach all sessions. Topics include:DWQ organizational overview, drought rules, water reuse, NPDES permitting, stormwater permitting, aquatic toxicity & lab certification, basin wide management plans, pretreatment - audits & inspections, and enforcement and compliance.

Complying with North Carolina Air Quality Regulations

Operators of Title V and synthetic minor and small sources of air pollutants are often faced with a complex and somewhat confusing set of requirements under North Carolina’s air quality regulations and individual air permits. Learn first hand what the regulators from the North Carolina Division of Air Quality (DAQ) expect from operators of each type of source.

The morning session of the Workshop will focus on issues common to all regulated sources.In the afternoon, Workshop attendees will have the choice of attending one of two concurrent sessions. The concurrent session for Title V sources will focus on issues specific to such sources.The concurrent session for synthetic minor and small sources will focus on air quality regulations, guidance, and permitting issues specific to such sources.

Hazardous Waste Compliance Training for Generators

Large quantity generators of hazardous waste must train their employees. The regulations require facility personnel to complete classroom or on-the-job training to become familiar with proper hazardous waste management and emergency procedures for the wastes handled at the facility. In addition facility personnel must take part in an annual review of their initial training. Learn first hand what the regulators from the North Carolina Division of Waste Management expect from hazardous waste generators and treatment, storage and disposal facilities.

North Carolina Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) School

The North Carolina Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) School is a unique forum for professionals in the environmental, health, and safety fields to obtain individualized information about the latest issues affecting their businesses in North Carolina.

The school will offer seven sessions addressing current issues in air quality, water quality, solid and hazardous waste, occupational health and safety and environmental systems management. Within each session there will be three concurrent tracks with courses ranging from very basic topics for those just starting out to advanced topics for the more experienced attendee.

School attendees can personalize their agenda by choosing any combination of seven classroom courses to attend from a menu of twenty-one informative courses. This unique format allows each attendee to select a school schedule tailored to his or her needs.
