The Manufacturers and Chemical Industry Council of North Carolina (MCIC) will hold its 2010 Annual Meeting at the Blockade-Runner Beach Resort at Wrightsville Beach <>. The meeting will begin at noon on Thursday, October 7, 2010 and adjourn at noon on Friday, October 8, 2010 which should allow most MCIC members to limit their time away from their respective sites to two days.

Two (2) of the principle architects of the fall election strategies of their respective House caucuses will share the most up-to-date information on their competition to control the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2011. Representatives Tom Tillis (Republican) and Pryor Gibson (Democrat) have been instrumental players among the leadership teams of their respective caucuses as they have developed their fall election strategies. Republicans need to capture nine (9) seats to wrestle control of the House from Democrats, and the Republicans believe they can do it. Find out where they stand, one month prior to the election!

In addition, participants will be presented with a wide-ranging discussion of North Carolina energy issues. Officials from Progress Energy, Duke Energy and Dominion Power will discuss their fuel cost forecasts, provide an update on their renewable strategies and compliance with the RPS requirements of Senate Bill 3, provide information about their respective energy efficiency initiatives, their plans for new base load generation units, their plans to convert coal-fired units to gas-fired units, and their legislative agenda for 2011, etc., all of which have a direct impact on your company’s energy costs.
